Live Update- Election Results 2024
The recent Indian election results have shown some big surprises compared to the last elections in 2019. The ruling BJP party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to win a majority of seats again, but it looks like they might fall short this time. The opposition INDIA alliance, led by the Congress party, is projected to win more than 200 seats.
In the state of Uttar Pradesh, which is very important because of its large population, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress have made significant gains, leading in 40 seats together. The BJP’s performance has been weaker than expected, even trailing in Modi’s own constituency of Varanasi.
In West Bengal, the ruling Trinamool Congress party has managed to hold its ground, leading in 29 out of 42 seats, while the BJP is leading in only 12 seats.
In the southern state of Kerala, the BJP may win its first-ever seat in the Lok Sabha (lower house of Parliament), indicating some success in appealing to certain sections of the Christian community.
The BJP also seems to have lost ground in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, where the Congress and its allies have made gains. This is likely due to dissatisfaction with the BJP’s approach of undermining and humiliating its political opponents.
